Is Homework a Battle?

posted by News,Principal's Blog

Here are few thoughts from Love and Logic:

  1. Help only when a child asks for and needs it.
  2. As soon as it becomes tense, walk away. Homework is the child’s responsibility. At SPLS, we have taught the lesson and the child has participated in the lesson so he or she has the information to complete the work.
  3. Do not allow yourself to work harder than the child.

Lutheran Schools Week will be celebrated on January 25-31

posted by News

Our goals and focus for the week will be to recognize St. Paul Lutheran Church and the support it gives to having a Lutheran School Ministry, recognizing our connection to other Lutheran School Ministries around the world, and to connect SPLS across the grade levels. The Scripture verse for the week is, “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Cor. 1:9

Some exciting news is that King and Country donated about $500 in items for us to use for LSW!!! Every morning ten names will be randomly drawn from Elementary and Middle School to receive a raffle prize.

Our daily themes and activities are as follows:

posted by News

We have an author coming to our school!! David Schwartz is the author of several (a lot) of children’s nonfiction science and math books – he focuses on making these subjects fun for kids. He will be giving 2 presentations on the morning of February 22nd. We are very excited about this opportunity to introduce his books to our students in such a fun way!
He is giving each student a wonderful opportunity to purchase his books at a discounted price and have them personally autographed. Your child has brought home a book order form with all of his books listed. Please fill this out and return it with cash or check made to David Schwartz to your teacher by Jan. 29th if you wish to buy a book. Be sure to fill out your child’s name beside the books you would like autographed. Click here to download the book order form.

Wake Up

posted by Principal's Blog

SPLS elementary and middle school students were reminded today that our Lord regularly sends wake up alarms to us. And we can choose to get going in response or we can ”hit the snooze button.”

When our school year theme reminds us to Look Up at all the ways God has provided for us that is a wake up alarm.

Taking It Seriously

posted by Principal's Blog

More than once I have heard from teachers about how seriously some SPLS parents take their responsibility to assist with memory work and review Bible lessons with their child. Nothing earth shattering in this good news…except for this; some of these parents are from a completely different religious tradition. Their upbringing, and even their current faith experience, is something other than the Christian faith we teach and live at SPLS. We welcome these families with the understanding that children will participate fully in all aspects of life on our campus, including studying and applying God’s Word.
